What a year it’s been, not only for Automic, but automation as a whole. More and more companies are taking further, meaningful strides into their digital transformation journeys, and the need for automation is becoming increasingly evident. This was reflected in the turnout for our 17th annual Automic World Europe event, where we our focus on ‘Driving Digital Transformation’ received our biggest attendance to date.

Joining the Family

This year, across two days (May 30th - 31st), more than 250 people from 18 countries joined us in Dusseldorf’s Hilton Hotel and were greeted by the biggest show floor presence we’ve had yet! Our exhibition area included a total of 19 individual demo points which showcased the limitless potential of our automation platform. Our products – Workload Automation, Release Automation and Service Orchestration – were well represented and even our Marketplace and Social Media outlets had a presence on the floor! The event’s interest and turnout reflected our position as industry-leading automation experts.

Automic World Europe 2017 was a year of firsts for us. It was the first time we ventured into the realms of live-streaming our keynotes via Facebook and the first time we demonstrated how our platform could work with voice-controlled assistants. But, most significantly, it was our inaugural Automic World since becoming a member of the CA Technologies family, which obviously drew a lot of attention from attendees.

I’m pleased to say the results of our merger couldn’t have been better received. A lot of pertinent questions were asked, and answered openly and honestly. The resounding message coming through was Automic and CA Technologies was one of unity, which was well met by the audience.

We went on to introduce a number of new plug-ins and action packs which demonstrate how simple it is to combine CA’s software with ours, and how doing so offers unrivaled power, functionality and value. There was also an announcement that we’ll be investing even more into R&D as we look to further enhance our automation platform.

Welcome to Automic World!

As usual, we had a full program of speakers and presentations, from both Automic employees and partner companies. Proceedings got under way on Tuesday 30th, when Automic’s CEO Todd DeLaughter and CA’s CPO Ayman Sayed officially kick-started the event. Todd elaborated on what an amazing year 2016 had been for us, explaining that in addition to the continued success of our AWA solution, our ARA software had begun to significantly disrupt the market. Todd further expanded upon the capabilities of our technology with a captivating demonstration of Automic’s Alexa-integration.

Following Todd and Ayman was Gwyn Clay, VP Product Management. Gwyn offered attendees an advanced look at our roadmap, and treated them to a preview of some of the new functionality coming to the Automic platform in version 12.1. He revealed that, among other features, data driven processing will be introduced and our analytics offering expanded in version 12.1.

A whole raft of speakers followed, including Ralf Paschen, Daniel Braaf and Bosch’s Juliane Ludwig, who spoke candidly about the process of upgrading to Automic v12.

Needless to say, it wasn’t all business, and the evening was full of food, drink and entertainment, as attendees were wowed by the likes of magicians, party-photo booths and music. There was a party atmosphere in the air which was, frankly, a little contagious!

Final Thoughts

There were some clear points to take away from this year’s event. The first and most obvious is we’re continuing to grow at an impressive rate. Automation is becoming more and more important to businesses of all sizes, and we are still the industry-standard solution.

Indeed, our success has been reflected in our increasing Automic World attendances. Not only are more people than ever joining us to learn more about what we’re doing and can offer, but our attendees are becoming increasingly international.

Joining the CA family and the messaging around that may be what sticks in people’s memories the longest. More than anything, attendees seemed to be most keen to learn more about how our solutions are going to integrate. Though it’s still early days, you can find out more about our CA Technologies plug-ins and action packs here.

While Automic World Europe 2017 may have finished, you can still get involved. We’d love to hear your thoughts on the importance of automation to your business and how much of an impact you think it’s going to have over the coming year. If you have five minutes free, why not fill in our short questionnaire? You could win a €50 Amazon voucher!

So, from Europe this year, that’s all. We’re already hard at work on next year’s event – we look forward to seeing you there!
